Dr. Robert P. Norton's Testimonials
I would like to thank Dr. Norton and his incredible staff. I had ACDF surgery and am feeling so much better. Nicole, Chelsea and Mike have been so great, there professionalism and compassion have been prevalent during the whole process. I am so appreciative to everyone at Florida Spine Associates.
I have been a patient of Florida Spine Associates for close to ten years, and I consider myself fortunate to have Dr. Norton as my surgeon. He performed successful surgeries on my lumbar spine and cervical spine, allowing me to continue playing golf and other activities. With that said, I've been under the continuing care of Dr. Burroughs and Dr. Moore. Dr. Burroughs is superb. Through his care and treatment program, I'm still able to enjoy and continue being active, which is so important, to me. I attributed this to to the terrific care of Dr. Burroughs and Dr. Moore. I highly recommend Florida Spine Associates to anyone with cervical to lumbar spine pain.

Thanks To Great Staff And Dr Norton Thank You For Be A Caring Doctor !!!!!!
Dr. Norton is a consummate professional. Around May 2019, I woke up one morning with a medium degree of sciatica in my leg left, with the pain originating in my lower left back. I still cannot pinpoint exactly where or how I hurt it, whether it was in the gym, helping a friend move, developing a habit of constantly crossing my legs at my desk, or something else. Regardless, the pain just continued to get worse and worse. As I knew, despite however significant the issue in my back was (I had no idea at the time), that surgery was a last resort for me, I sought alternative methods to alleviate the pain and rectify the issue. Some of the methods I used include: constantly applying ointment (such as an icy hot roller) to my back to ease the muscle tension, chiropractic care, percussion gun therapy on myself, deep tissue massages, and extended use on an inversion table. All of these methods helped, but they were all band-aids: temporary solutions to a seemingly permanent problem, and many of them resolved the pain for no more than an hour, sometimes less.
Considering how young I am, only 30 years of age, as well as how active I’ve been over the course of my life, I felt I could weather the storm without the use of surgery. I was wrong. Knowing how much of my life I still had to live, the time had come to take extreme action before this ailment overtook my entire life. I found Dr. Norton via a Google search and read reviews raving of his qualifications and also patient success after surgery. It was a no-brainer. After receiving an MRI on my lumbar spine and determining that I had a herniated disk on my L5-S1, I decided to go through with surgery. On September 23, 2020, Dr. Norton performed a lumbar microdiscectomy on my herniated disk.
The thing that really stands out to me about the surgery itself was that I did not feel the need to use any painkillers whatsoever post-surgery for my incision. That spoke volumes to me about how much care Dr. Norton and the staff placed on my body that day. More importantly, after a short time of recovery (for those who undergo this procedure, the most effective way to recover is to WALK as much as possible), I was back to performing activities I was physically unable to perform a year prior, such as weight-lifting, walking long distances, and even standing in one spot for more than 30 seconds (yes, the sciatica was that bad). I went from a pain level of 10.5 to 1 in a matter of less than two months after surgery, and Dr. Norton and his staff was with me every step of the way.
At 30 years old, I thought my life was over. I never use overly literal phrases like this impulsively, but I can confidently say that Dr. Norton saved my life. Thank you Dr. Norton, and God bless you.

Very Happy With All The Care That Was Given. The Surgery Was The Best.
kyphoplasty was successful if I had any questions Dr Nortonwas there for me even if it was after office hours he would get back to me if I had any other pressing concerns
September 7, 2019, I was involved in a boating mishap. I went to urgent care where they sent me for an MRI. A week later, I went to an orthopedic urgent care where they read my MRI and, with an empathetic face, started apologizing to me. She told me I had a broken back. She immediately said to me that I would need to have a procedure called a kyphoplasty. When I asked if it was something she could do, she said, well, I have done it before, but I think you need to see a specialist. When I asked her for a reference of who she might suggest, there is only one; Dr. Norton and the Florida Spine Associates in Boca.
Upon arriving for my appointment, the next day, I sat in a large clean waiting room with comfortable chairs. Although I was in excruciating pain, I was listening to all of the conversations from people saying how excellent the practice is and that they have traveled from not only Florida, but from New York, Connecticut, and California so that they could be treated by Dr. Norton.
Hearing this provided me with some comfort. Once I saw Dr. Norton, he explained to me the procedure for the kyphoplasty.
The next step was getting the insurance to approve the procedure. As you would think, the response was “no.” This is where the back office of Florida Spine Associates shined. They called the insurance company, argued their case, and set-up a peer-to-peer review for the next day. My procedure was scheduled within hours of their decision.
Both Dr. Norton and the Florida Spine Associates practice have changed my life. After the procedure, I was able to walk out of the office (out-patient procedure) with minimal pain. I was scheduled for physical therapy (available at their office), where I received .
Dr. Robert Norton has literally changed my life!!!! I have been in chronic pain for over 20 years. I’d get epidurals, ablations, tried therapy numerous times , etc... I tried just about did everything and was treated by numerous surgeons and drs. -Dr. Norton was the first dr who said he could help me. I have had 3 surgeries in 2 years. One in my cervical spine and a 5 level fusion on my lumbar spine. I literally do not have any pain or residual side effects. I was losing feeling in my arms and legs and could barely walk or get out of bed sometimes. He has changed me!! I’m 6 weeks out of my last surgery and pain free. Walking 1-2 miles a day already and can’t wait til I can play tennis and anything else once again. I’m 52 and have always worked out or tried to. It has been difficult. I wish I met him 20 years ago. I broke my coccyx delivering my child. I also have stenosis, degenerative disc disease and arthritis throughout my spine and all I know is that every doctor would tell me how horrible my spine is but they’d say they didn’t want to do anything accept keep giving me more steroids which completely messed me up too. Now ... I am off of all pain meds all muscle relaxers everything. He has truly made a miracle happen for me and given me my quality of life back to once again enjoy everything and to do everything I would like. I cannot say enough about Dr. Norton. He is literally my Hero!!
Oct 2019…today was my one year anniversary after having my sciatica (MAS TLIF) surgery in your office…I played golf to celebrate and shot 78!.... I wouldn’t even be at the golf course if not for your expertise…Thank you Dr. Norton…for giving me my life back…
Dr. Norton is awesome and took excellent care of me. I felt immediate pain relief as immediately following the surgery. I could not say enough nice things about my results. It is wonderful to be able to work out again and turn my head after so long suffering. I would recommend ACDF surgery over epidurals or pain medication any day.
It has been a little over a year since Dr. Norton performed back surgery (fusion) on my lower spine. I could have written this review immediately after the surgery as I felt relief right after I woke up from the surgery. Before the surgery, I could barely walk at times and was in excruciating pain in my back and down my legs. After the first couple of weeks of my body adjusting from surgery, I was amazed at the relief I felt. I can't thank Dr. Norton enough for giving me my life back. I will be forever grateful!
Excellent care
Nicole (PA) was great to meet with today. She was quite knowledgeable and so patient with all of my questions. She reviewed my x-rays thoroughly and asked detailed questions which made me feel that she was really concerned about my health etc. Overall great experience.

I can’t say enough positive things about this office, Dr Norton and especially Dr Saville. Having chronic back issues for 30+ years, seeking solutions in other offices/therapies a friend recommended this office after my MRI revealed a serious problem. Dr Norton came up w a solution on my first visit, Dr Saville performed the procedure the next day and my pain is gone. Two weeks post-surgery I couldn’t be happier. I’ll update when I’m back (pun intended) playing tennis/golf of coarse working.
If you are experiencing major back or leg pain call Dr. Robert Norton now for an appointment. You will be glad you did.
This outstanding surgeon located in Boca Raton, Fla operated on me for a major hernated disc and instantly i was free of pain.
I had gone to three other back Doctors prior to this and all three misdiagnosed me, and had me performing physical therapy.
I recommend Dr. Robert Norton without reservations. I had postponed a lower back surgery out of fear because of all the nightmare stories I had heard. The relatively new OLLIF back surgery is a great improvement over previous back surgeries. After two of my physicians recommended Dr. Norton, I saw him to schedule what was essentially a rebuilding of my entire lower back (L2-L5). I experienced a steady recovery afterward, and a year later I have only occasional pain that is nothing compared to what I felt beforehand. I’ve had no loss of mobility and can bend as far as I need to with no discomfort, including picking up items on the floor. Much to my surprise, my once cheerful personality returned, and I felt like the real me again. Dr. Norton is a skilled, caring surgeon, and his staff is highly professional and caring. If you need back surgery and are afraid to have it, see Dr. Norton; it will change your life!
I am a 72 year old physician. Like many people I have had intermittent but tolerable back pain my entire life. Despite this I was able to work, garden, golf and go about all my normal activities. However, I overdid it with Hurricane Irma and all the associated lifting and moving. In November 2017 I developed increasingly severe right lower extremity pain with walking and even standing. My first epidural in January 2018 helped immensely but the pain returned in September 2018 and this time did not respond to epidurals. I could not walk a block without severe pain in my right leg. The MRI showed my lumbar spine was a disaster zone. Some said it couldn't be repaired or at least no surgeon would undertake the task. Others warned of the chancy nature of spinal surgery. I have worked with great surgeons my entire career, felt otherwise and sought out Dr. Norton. He talked with me, reviewed my MRI and said this would be one of his less demanding surgeries. I immediately knew he was a great surgeon and human being and was the right man for me. I had my surgery, a laminectomy and L45 fusion on Nov. 7, 2018 and was discharged walking 16 hours post op. I am now able to walk freely thanks to Dr. Norton. I have complete confidence in him and recommend him without hesitation for any spine surgery you may need. I know he doesn't believe this but for me he is a genius as well as a great surgeon. If anyone can help you it is Dr. Norton.
I have had spinal pain in my neck, thoracic spine and lumbar spine for the past several years. I tried epidurals but they were not effective. In 2017, I developed cervical radiculopathy; a burning, stabbing nerve pain from my neck, into my shoulder and down my arm into my hand. It was like being electrocuted from the inside. I was no longer able to complete daily tasks. The unrelenting pain kept me in the house for over 6 months. I met Dr. Burroughs first for pain management and through him I met Dr.Norton. My surgery was August 27, 2018. When I woke up I realized Dr.Norton performed a miracle!! The cervical radiculopathy was gone. The excruciating pain had disappeared! I wish I had found Dr.Norton earlier; the surgery went well, maybe one week for the post surgical pain to lessen. Dr.Norton is unique for a surgeon. He explains the diagnosis, the surgical treatment plan and the post recovery period. I have complete confidence in him. So much so, that I am having lumbar surgery with Dr. Norton in January 2019. His partner, Dr. Burroughs takes care of the pain management and there is even a physical therapy component in the practice. He is knowledgeable, highly skilled, approachable, and cares about his patients.
I can not say enough about Dr. Robert Norton. I came to him with severe pains in the back of my thighs. The pain was unbearable. He explained to me, after reviewing my MRI that I needed surgery. He told me exactly what was happening and why I was in such pain. Dr. Norton’s bedside manner is just wonderful. He answered every question that I had!!! I scheduled my surgery for July 1oth, 2017 at Boca Regional Hospital (excellent hospital). Surgery went exceptionally well. I am able to walk again without any pain. Thank you so much Dr. Norton.
February of 2017 Dr. Robert Norton performed spinal surgery on me. L5-S1 was fused and a compressed nerve was relieved with surgery.
Before surgery pain level in my left leg and foot was excruciating making it very difficult for me to walk or sit. I could walk a short distance with the aid of a walker.
Surgery relieved the pain enabled me to walk and sit again. Post operative pain was minimal. I walked the same day as surgery and returned home in 48 hours on Tylenol for the discomfort.
I am thankful for Dr. Nortons skills. Surgery relieved debilitating pain, returned my functionality, and gave my life back to me.
It has been 4 months since I had my Arterial Cervical Disectomy Fusion. From the very beginning I felt that I was in very capable hands, and even though I was extremely worried, proceeded to go ahead with the surgery. I did not take it lightly, but I am so relieved that my husband and I both felt the same way. Dr. Norton you were more than thoughtful and made me feel that you were so very concerned about me, as a person and as a patient. The surgery was successful. We would not hesitate to refer patients to you every chance we can. You are so deserving of this.
Many thanks again for being there and helping me through a most difficult time in my life.
I had been suffering with back pain on and off for several years but from April-August 2016 i began to have severe nerve pain in both legs. I was unable to walk for any distance without pain. After trying physical therapy for several weeks with little positive results, the therapist thankfully recommended Dr. Robert Norton. When Dr Norton checked my MRI and X-rays, he told me exercises will not help remedy my situation and suggested surgery to alleviate the on-going pain. I was not happy to receive that news but he assured me that he would say the same thing to his mom if her spine was in the same condition as mine. My surgery took place on September 6, 2016 at West Boca Hospital. Days before and leading up to the surgery I mentally prepared myself for the operation. Everything went very well, thanks to Dr. Norton and his surgical team. I was without pain and up walking the day after surgery, just as he said i would be. I wore the support brace for one month and continued with appropriate exercises, especially walking. A visiting nurse and a physical therapist visited me 2x/week for the first few weeks that I was home from the hospital so I always felt confident that I was being taken care of. Dr Norton set up several follow-up visits over the subsequent months to continually check on how the spine is healing. I was reassured that I was not alone after the surgery , the months following surgery, and during the whole healing process.
Dr Norton exudes very positive energy, friendliness, confidence, and professionalism. I definitely recommend Dr. Norton to anyone considering spinal surgery.
I’m a new man! After suffering excruciating sciatica for months from a severely herniated disc, I am now completely pain free. At my initial appointment, Dr. Norton read the MRI and confirmed a large fragment in the lower lumbar region exerting pressure on the sciatic nerve. Dr Norton explained various options to address the pain, but suggested that surgery to remove the fragment was the most effective way to treat this condition. He handled all my questions in a very straightforward manner. We scheduled surgery at the earliest possible opportunity and on May 10th, Dr. Norton performed a lamimotomy/microdiscectomy. The sciatica was gone immediately. Afterwards, Dr. Norton explained very clearly that I needed to work my way back to normal activities and he put me into contact with a great physical therapy group. It’s now been just over a month since my surgery and I am almost back to my former, healthy self. Dr. Norton once told me he was ”not a miracle worker.” I disagree. I cannot thank Dr. Norton and his professional staff enough for the care given to me.
Dr. Norton performed approximately 10 hours of back surgery on me March 29, 2016. Prior to my surgery I was living with constant back pain. My quality of life was definitely not the best. Now after 3 months, I can honestly say that I am pain free and living a more normal life. Much better quality of life! Through his excellent surgical knowledge and compassionate care I can now say without his surgical knowledge I would not be writing this testimonial. I highly recommend his surgical expertise to any and all who are suffering with back problems. Your are the best Dr. Norton!
I would like to thank you and your highly professional team for a great completion of Cervical Spine Surgery. I never realized how complicated the procedure was, but you and the team performed a remarkable feat by operating on C3,4,5 &6 without any complications. Your great personality and love of spine surgery certainly helped me in choosing you as my surgeon and allowed a 76 year old man go into the procedure with a lot of confidence. I highly recommend young your group to any hesitant person, it feels great to be without pain. Thanks again Ira.
After several months of increasing and relentless pain in my right scapular area which radiated up my neck, (causing vertigo), and radiated down my arm, my orthopedist referred me to Dr. Robert Norton, who, along with two of his colleagues, had just opened an office in Boca Raton, near Boca Raton Regional Hospital. It was, without question, the most important referral for a serious medical condition I had ever received!
Without going into revealing details, Dr. Norton was not the first minimally invasive spinal surgeon I had consulted. The other surgeon’s office was like a factory, with a waiting room cramped with chairs facing each other, a wait time of 55 minutes, and a surgeon who never once looked me straight in the eyes, as he studied x-rays and MRI scans and took notes, and never once placed his hands on my body in the areas where I had pain. I left his office in a rage, feeling greater pain by his behavior and poor demeanor.
Robert Norton’s practice is the complete opposite of this. After a review of my scans, MRI’s and x-rays, and his comprehensive and unhurried physical hands-on examination, he actually listened to my complaints, asked me questions, and treated me like an individual, and not just another body in his office. He recommended conservative treatment, prescribing oral steroids, and referred me to one of his practice colleagues for pain management, including epidural steroid injection. I approved of this approach, especially since, as a research nurse with more than 40 years of professional experience, I was not eager to be rushed to surgery.
When it became clear that my pain was unresponsive to these modalities, and was intractable, Dr. Norton explained and recommended a partial corpectomy of the C3-C4, with a C3-C4 anterior cervical discectomy and fusion. Dr. Norton clearly and patiently explained the procedure, the time in hospital (overnight), and the expectations I should have during recovery.
Norton’s demeanor is unusual for many of the surgeons I have ever encountered. He is extremely sensitive, evidencing a genuine concern for my well-being, understood my anxieties and responded to them, rather than dismissed them, and treated me, as well as my partner of 40 years, with respect. He had a calming effect on both of us, which was critical, because quite frankly, I was at a heightened level of anxiety. I am not a sedentary guy, have had a trainer 3x a week for the last 8 years, and did not like the idea of being incapacitated by a diagnosis of severe foraminal stenosis with disc herniation resulting in severe arm pain.
The surgery was expedited and scheduled in less than week, and I was given outstanding attention by Dr. Norton’s surgical coordinator, Jessica, who updated me through text messages on every aspect of the pre-surgery scheduling, and was also available to me, and served as a contact for Dr. Norton, post surgery. She played a critical role in my post surgery recovery, and should be recognized for this, and of course, Dr. Norton should be applauded for having her as a member of his team.
While Dr. Norton may be younger than many of the other spinal surgeons practicing in our area, do not mistake his youth for a lack of clinical expertise. Read his bio, his CV, see where he attended medical school and post doc training, where he engaged in his fellowship training, and yes, look at his published research articles, which are extensive and on-going. As a retired employed of the Federal Government’s National Institutes of Health in DC, I was exceedingly impressed with the wealth and depth of Norton’s research involvement. He is not ”stale” in his technical knowledge, and is certainly fresh in his approach to the sensitive treatment of his patients.
I am feeling like a new man, to use a cliche, and am confident my recovery will proceed as explained, as I was, and still am, in good hands under the care of Robert Norton, MD.
Since I relocated here from the Midwest in early 2014, no rock was left unturned in hopes of finding a surgeon who specialized in Complex Spine issues. I had been dealing with them stemming from a Birth Defect for over 20 years, resulting in over a dozen ‘Break and Fix’ surgeries done by surgeons in Chicago.
Every one of the handful of surgeon I found here in South Florida ‘claimed’ expertise, but after reviewing my MRIs and X-rays, they all turned me away saying my issues were far beyond what their capabilities were.
Then, when I thought all hope of getting help anywhere remotely near Southern Florida were gone, my pain management specialist, Dr Galante shared with me the new staff appointment and arrival at the new Marcus Neuroscience Institute, right here in Boca Raton!
I made an Appointment immediately with Dr. Robert Norton, Orthopedic Spine Surgeon who specializes in complex spine disorders, and his dream team of surgeons, Dr Houten and Dr Weinstein. He reviewed my tests and showed me vertebrae by vertebrae how each level can be improved with restructuring. I was excited to hear there was hope and scheduled the surgery for December 2015.
He took that which previously was a twisted failing birth defected disaster and transformed it into a near perfectly straight work of art!
I now have an entirely new lease on life and hope for a bright, new, and more functional future! For the first time in forever, I can stand up perfectly straight and without excruciating pain!
What he and his dream team of surgeons performed was nothing shy of a pure miracle for which I am eternally grateful.
I was diagnosed with a synovial cyst in my spinal canal between L4 and L5. The pain was debilitating to the point where I was barely able to walk. I interviewed a number of surgeons and was even prepared to travel until I met Dr. Norton. His insight, patient care and knowledge gave me confidence to give him the go-ahead to perform a lumbar laminectomy. I am extraordinarily satisfied with the outcome of the procedure. I was walking without pain the next day. He was there to answer any questions during the recovery process. In addition I can only rate his staff as first-class. I whole heartedly and without reservation recommend Dr. Norton for anyone that requires spinal surgery.
I am a 51 year old woman who has suffered back ache for the last 35 years. I was diagnosed with Grade 2 Spondylolisthesis 12 years ago. Over the past 12 years I have visited several spinal orthopedic surgeons who wanted to operate immediately. As I was only 39 years old when I was first diagnosed I didn’t want to rush into doing surgery.
I felt uncomfortable with not only the doctors I saw, but also the invasive procedure that they wanted to perform. I made sure that I visited all the top doctors in South Florida. I was told I would need an 8-inch incision in my back and I would have to spend one month in bed and 5 months in a back brace.
About five years ago I had to stop playing golf and tennis, both sports that I love, as I could not take the pain.
Over the last year my backache, which I described as a kitchen knife permanently in my back was getting worse and more debilitating. I had been hoping over the years for the operation to become less invasive. At this time, it was my G.P. that suggested that I pay a visit to a relatively young doctor who came very highly recommended.
I went to see Dr. Norton for the first time about one year ago. I felt so comfortable with his relaxed and friendly demeanor, which had not been my experience with other surgeons. He explained the operation, which would be to done with a small incision through the belly and then two small incisions in the lower back, all done in a minimally invasive manor. This allowed for minimal pain and fast recovery. I really appreciated that Dr. Norton wasn’t pushy and didn’t pressure me in any way. My husband and I researched Dr. Norton through our contacts in both Florida and New York and received nothing but amazing feedback.
I decided to wait until after the summer and visited Dr. Norton again in the fall. As I suffer from high blood pressure and high cholesterol, I was worried about these factors in terms of surgery. Dr. Norton made me feel confident and reassured that these issues wouldn’t affect the procedure.
I had a few more pre-op visits with Dr. Norton where I took my entire family to meet him in order for them to better understand the operation. He was very accommodating to everyone’s questions and concerns.
Dr. Norton suggested I speak to a previous patient of his who had had the same operation a few months earlier. The gentleman patient raved about his whole experience with Dr. Norton and couldn’t believe the backache he had suffered for 20 years was gone. I asked him as many questions as I could think of and only received answers that I could have hoped for.
Dr. Norton gave me the courage to go ahead with this operation. I booked myself in to do the surgery. My operation was done at Boca Raton Regional Hospital in the spectacular new building called The Marcus Neuroscience Institute.
I saw his friendly face for a few minutes before the surgery, which reassured me. I waved and smiled goodbye to my family and felt very confident. I told them that I would see them on the other side of lunch.
The surgery included both Dr. Norton’s and a vascular surgeon’s work. After the operation, Dr. Norton spoke to my family while I was still in recovery and assured them that the operation had gone very well.
That afternoon Dr. Norton came to see me. He also visited me every day during my three days in hospital. It was very comforting to know that he was available for any questions I had.
Recovering from any type of surgery is never easy but just as he had promised me, I was up and walking the next day which was quite amazing. My incisions were a little sore as to be expected but it was nothing short of a miracle that I had NO backache immediately.
As soon as my wounds were healed (2 weeks) I started swimming every other day and have lost 15 pounds already. I look and feel like a new person. I have my waistline back and people compliment me on my posture all the time. Last week, I saw Dr. Norton for my 6 week check up. I had an X-ray taken and everything looks picture perfect.
I cannot sing Dr. Norton’s praises enough. I could not have imagined a better experience with such a kind, compassionate and friendly surgeon. I have a new lease on life; Dr. Norton changed my life.
The best way to describe Dr. Norton is “Excellent ” in all regards . Excellent in skills, experience, and bedside manner. I had surgery with Dr. Norton in June 2015 . It went great with results that removed my neck pain. There is no other surgeon I would ever consider to perform any additional spine surgery.
Dr. Norton is the very best!
It’s hard to imagine myself ever being on the other end of patient care but in November of 2014 I found myself in that exact position. I’ve been a Registered Nurse over 25 years, most recently at West Boca Medical Center now going on 18 years and have never been a patient other than when giving birth to my two boys. This all changed in an instant on November 18, 2014 .
While getting out of bed one morning to head to the hospital, I experienced such excruciating pain in my lower back that it felt like I was being stabbed. I immediately knew I had herniated something in my back it was just a question of what and how badly. I phoned my doctor who had me go for an emergent MRI which showed a major large disc herniation of L5-S1. I knew I would require some form of spinal surgery and I also knew without question who I would allow perform any surgery on me.
I’ve reviewed and witnessed enough outcomes post operatively by Dr. Robert Norton to know he would be my surgeon of choice. His expertise, amazing training, and phenomenal outcomes made it an easy decision during a very stressful and painful time. Dr. Norton took such time with me explaining exactly what type of surgery I would require and all that I would need to expect post surgery. Prior to my micro discectomy I could not take a single step without screaming in agony. My biggest fear was that I would never be the same and I would have to live the rest of my life with limitations. But I also knew if I had any chance of regaining normalcy, it would be with Dr. Norton.
The day after surgery, I took my first step with such apprehension…fearing I would feel that unbearable pain….But the pain was completely gone! I didn’t feel one ounce of discomfort in any area of my back or leg. At that moment I began to cry and told the physical therapist that if there was ever an angel on earth it was Dr. Norton. I placed all of my faith in him and he did everything I knew he would. I was back to work within a week and never felt better!
I’ve been in the medical profession a very long time. People ask me on a daily basis who I use as my physicians. They feel that if I allow treatment on myself or my family members then I must trust their skills and expertise. Well I sure do Dr. Robert Norton. I thank you for not only ridding me of such agonizing pain, but for giving me my life back as I knew it prior to that horrible day! You rock and I’m forever grateful…
Dr. Norton did a TLIF with a bone fusion in July, 2015.
I had been experiencing severe pain in my knee and lower leg caused by a synovial cyst in the L4-L5 area.
The surgery was successful and I am so glad that I made that very scary decision to have this procedure. The recovery process went well with minimal pain and a short recovery time.
From the diagnosis, to the follow up visits, I have been encouraged to ask questions and have never had the feeling of being rushed. In today’s medical environment, this extra attention to the needs of the patient is very much appreciated. I am pleased to say Dr. Norton emphasizes interest in the patient’s needs.
I have complete faith in Dr. Norton and his staff.
Thanks to all for a great experience.
Dr. Brian Burrough's Testimonials
My orthopedic surgeon referred me to Dr. Burrough. he was very professional combined with a great knowledge Of pain management and technical skills none of this was greater than his friendly approach and presentation his injection of cortizone has made a much-needed change in the quality of my every day life.
Patient from Florida Spine Associates
I first met Dr. Burrough one year ago today. I literally could not walk without the aid of a cane plus grasping for additional support from a wall, counter, parking meter, car, etc. I thought I needed a shot in my lower spine to alleviate pain and stiffness and (I thought) problems with my legs coming from my lower back. Dr. Burrough correctly diagnosed the problem as cervical – which stunned me since I had no pain in my neck at all. After an MRI showing that the spinal cord was close to being severed in my neck, he referred me to his partner, Dr. Saville, and I had a cervical laminectomy which literally saved me from being a paraplegic. I have continued to see Dr. Burrough and his partner Liz Moore for the past year, and I cannot say enough good thinks about them. Both are very straightforward in talking to me about my condition, explaining things in terms I can easily understand, and discussing what next steps ought to be. I trust them completely and would immediately refer them to any family member or friend who was having a bac issue. I recommend them to anyone, without reservation. The office staff is very professional, courteous, and always very helpful.
I first saw Dr. Burrough when my long-time Chiropractor told me he could not help my condition anymore and referred me to the pain management doctor he used himself: Dr. Brian Burrough. I made an appointment and met Dr. Burrough. I went to see him thinking that the source of my problem was my lower back. I was in a lot of pain, and had increasingly severe balance problems with loss of muscle control and strength in my legs. Dr. Burrough asked me several questions and then told me that while my lumbar region was very likely damaged, he thought my cervical spine was the root cause of my balance and strength problems. He ordered MRI’s of my neck and lower back on an emergency basis and saw me a day or two later – showing me graphically on the MRI where the nerves were not only compressed, but in real danger of being severed. That’s when he introduced me to Dr. Saville, and I have written a separate testimonial about how utterly fantastic he is. Since then, Dr. Burrough and his Nurse Practitioner, Liz Moore, have cared for me and managed my pain through two cervical surgeries and recovery periods. I still have lumbar spine issues which will be addressed (by Dr. Saville) in due course, but Dr. Burrough and Ms. Moore have cared for me each step of the way. They both discuss my situation with me in very practical and down to earth terms, yet they also very candidly discuss the very real issues of opioid dependency and the need to seek alternatives where appropriate. I very much respect the open and candid relationship they have fostered. They are open and honest with me, and take my concerns and questions very seriously. They are very thorough and take the time to listen to me. I have never felt rushed. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to family or friends without reservation.
Dr. Burrough is one of the most professional, kind and understanding doctors I have ever been a patient of in my 35 year history in Boca Raton. I would rate him 10 stars if that is possible!!
Further, his Staff exhibits incredible skills in there follow up to the procedures performed by Dr. Burrough.
Highly recommend!!!
Always the best!
Very professional. On time. Care about their patients. Return phone calls. And physical therapy improved my back. I was ready to go under the knife. Instead the injection and PT aided my condition. Don't bother with other doctors.

Dr Burrough has done 3 back procedures on me, and I will say That Dr Burrough is very Professional and very thorough, his assistant PA Elizabeth is both professional and easy to talk with, she is an absolute asset to Florida Spine Associates. The entire staff is very friendly, I would recommend this office to anyone that has Chronic pain and those that suffer from back pain, they are really out to help you.
Dr. Philip A Saville's Testimonials
I wish I didn't take so long to make up my mind on surgery, I could have been out of pain a lot sooner.
I had fusion spinal surgery on L4-5, three weeks ago by Dr. Saville and let me tell you, I feel so much better. He did a wonderful job, he spent so much time explaining everything before and after surgery and has alot of patience with me.
Now that he did his job well, now its time that I take the time to do my job during recovery so we can have the best outcome.
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Saville and his office staff. His office staff is always kind, answers all my questions. Great staff.
I usually don't write reviews, but felt I had to for Dr. Saville & his staff, so if your thinking about using them, like me and many others should give you good reason to give them the trust you are looking for.
My concierge primary physician, aware of the pain I am suffering from the eight hour surgery performed on my neck in March 2018, suggested I see Dr. Phillip Saville MD. Dr. Saville added Dr. Seth MacMahon MD to his treatment team and the results have been outstanding. Even the greeting staff is warm, understanding and helpful. I did not know of Florida Spine Associates over the past few years. If I did they would have spared me so much pain.
Dr. Seville and the team provided top notch care for my herniated disk. The recommended surgery was an incredible success! It's been almost a month and I am pain free without any medication. Thank you to the doctor, office and surgical staff. I am so appreciative. If you're considering Dr. Sevillle for surgery don't wait!
I had a C-3/4 and C-6/7 injury. After doing my research and having an exam by Dr. Saville. I went forward with the operation. Even though this was my 4th operation ( other 3 due to Rugby injuries ) this one was big and I was honestly nervous about it. Dr. Saville and staff made me feel at ease. Had procedure done at Delray Surgical Suites. ( Great staff there too). Today makes it 40 days since my operation. I am glad I choose Dr. Saville. Do your homework it is the prudent thing to do. I did and Dr. Saville in my book should get 10 stars. I do not give out accolades on Google, Yelp , Health grades on a regular basis. But Dr. Saville deserves kudos from me. So if you are getting cervical surgery good luck and listen to Dr. Saville you are in good hands !
Wow! what a difference from April 27, 2021 I have had many procedures in the past regarding pain in my lower back. My wife found Florida Spine Asso. in an AD in a magazine. My previous spinal doctor one of the best in Broward county retired I was still in contact with him and asked him what he thought of dr. Sarville he said I was in great hands boy was he rights. I had the MAS TLIF operation April 27, 2021 before the operation I could not walk over 100 feet and hands would be num in the morning. i always had very bad pain enough to take my breath away. It has been 9 weeks since my operation there was a lot of pain in the beginning but it was worth every bit of pain. I now can walk at least a mile no more pain no numbness. I am a new man at 78 years old I am looking forward to playing with my grandkids once more. Thanks to Dr Phillip Saville God Bless you doctor.
I want to say how thankful I am that I had great surgeon like Dr. Saville. Back surgery can be scary. He was very honest with me since the beginning. I am happy to say it has been a successful surgery as I am now almost 6 weeks post op and I have had zero pain since I woke up after surgery besides the incision pain which is normal. To say that Dr. Saville is a lifesaver is an understatement. Thank you so much for caring and being a great surgeon!
After being told for years that I had too many cervical disks needing repair to even consider surgery, we found Dr. Seville.
The surgery was successful and five weeks post surgery, I am feeling great.
Aside from his excellent surgical skills, I was impressed with the openness and honesty in my appointments. Dr Seville made me feel as though I were a partner in decisions that were made.
I chose Dr. Saville from a search online based on many prior reviews. From my first appointment and meeting with him, I knew I had chosen the right Surgeon and Doctor to help me. He already had the answers to my questions from the minute I sat down with him in the office. He was attentive, direct, and to the point when addressing my concerns. I am not a trusting person when it comes to my doctors and my health based upon experiences with my mom and her past doctors but I can honestly say I would place and entrust my life into his hands. He is amazing, polite, welcoming, everything a doctor or surgeon should be. He is the only surgeon I would use in the future if I needed to do so again. I highly recommend Dr. Saville. Words cannot express my gratitude for his help.
It is my pleasure to share my experience with Dr. Saville. From my first visit, I was reassured by the doctor’s patience, compassion and understanding of my back issues, and of the time he took to explain the course of treatment in great detail. He and his staff provided excellent care before, during and after my surgery. I enthusiastically recommend Dr. Saville and his team, with confidence, to anyone experiencing back issues.
Dr. Saville is the perfect surgeon for me. His youth, enthusiasm, knowledge, professionalism, and skill helped me get through a surgery I was not looking forward to. He led me through all the steps, both pre and post surgery so I knew what to expect. Feeling great 2 weeks post surgery and will always be thankful to Dr. Saville, and his staff.
Please let me begin by saying how very thankful I am to have become a patient of Florida Spine Associates. From the first visit it was clear going forward that this is where I needed to be treated for my pain issues. And every appointment, consultation/ conversation, diagnostic/ discussion, follow-up, physical therapy/ course of treatment, doctors, and staff were phenomenal. I received the utmost care through FSA and for all of that I am eternally grateful. I do want to give a special shout out to Dr. Philip Saville a truly gifted surgeon and to Dr. Brian Burrough who I met on my initial visit. It was on that day I became a patient of the practice. When I arrived at Florida Spine Associates last October I was in excruciating pain unlike anything that I had ever experienced in my entire life. I found FSA to be experienced, knowledgeable, kind, people (patient) oriented and above all true to the profession of providing excellent care. Albeit, Dr. Saville performed a life changing surgery that gave me my life back. My mobility is no longer compromised, in fact on the morning after my procedure, when I stood up for the first time, that debilitating paralyzing pain was completely gone. And I owe it all to Florida Spine Associates and company! The rate of care provided by FSA is Excellent Superb Terrific Unyielding. I have already spoken with the pastoral care pastor of my church about the wonderful services that I received particularly from the hands of Dr. Saville a highly respected skilled and talented orthopedic spine surgeon and of course the surgical team at West Boca Medical. Dr. Saville. Thank you for being the vessel by which I received healing and mercy on that faithful day in December 2020. I pray that God will always bless your work at Florida Spine Associates in order that others will receive the blessings of healing and restoration, amen
First, huge thank you to Alyssa who helped me maneuver through my first telemedicine visit with Dr Savile through my follow up visit in your office. Thank you for your caring and professional manner and putting me at ease immediately. Dr Saville is terrific. He was thorough, kind and answered all my questions. I am so pleased with my care.
Second, my visit today with Dr Auerbach was just as amazing. He is so kind and gentle. He took his time offered me solutions. He was the ultimate professional. The procedure he performed was impeccable. I felt so comfortable in his care. A huge thank you to Stephanie for her thoroughness and care during this visit and throughout my procedure. I am very impressed. Thank you so much.
Last but certainly not least, your office staff is so pleasant and sets the tone of the visit from beginning to end. Kudos to all of you !
What an amazing experience. First time I met Dr. Saville I knew he was the doctor I needed to fix my Spine. After having Pain and Numbness for the most of 4 years it was time to do something as it was getting progressively worse. It has been 4 weeks since my surgery. The day after surgery I was feeling great and walking without pain and it only got better from there. Excellent experience, Excellent Surgent, Excellent Staff. Thank You.
I am forever grateful to Dr. Saville - he inherited a botched surgery and if it wasn't for him I would still be an invalid. He's not only an amazingly talented surgeon, he really truly listens! How lucky I was to be his patient. I now have my life back.
This surgeon is the best of the best. After a surgery with another surgeon, my husband was recommended to Dr. Saville. He brilliantly performed his talent in a 7 hour operation, which transformed my husband.
I cannot over emphasize the excellent care I received from Dr Saville. The surgery was a laminectomy of the L3, L4, L5, Results were wonderful and Dr. Saville's bedside manners are impeccable.
Dr. Saville performed cervical fusion on my partner in May 2019. He had a previous cervical fusion done in Miami at Jackson Hospital. I have to say that Dr. Saville exceeded all my expectations. He was professional and knowledgeable. When my partner first saw Dr. Saville he immediately knew what the problem was and what needed to be done. I really cannot find the right words to describe how great Dr. Saville is. If anyone has to have spinal surgery I definitely will tell them to see Dr. Saville!
Dr. Saville performed a decompression surgery between L4-5 on my 93 year old mother on the 19th of June. One week later she was up walking, sometimes without use of a walker. Dr. Saville decided to do an "old fashioned surgery" in order to minimize her time under anesthesia, as that can be very dangerous to people at her age. This was the best thing for her and we are forever very grateful for his smart decision. Most doctors would just have done what they always does. Thank you Doctor Saville!
Just two weeks post surgery and I am feeling greatI. A very complicated adult scoliosis was performed in Texas four years ago and was damaged recently by a fall in Italy. Dr. Saville saw me immediately on my return and was able to schedule me for surgery eight days later after seeing my agony. He immediately put me at ease and spent a lot of time discussing my case and answering all of my questions. The pain post surgically is amazingly less than my past spinal surgeries. In spite of my complicated medical history, he sent me home four days after surgery feeling great! Thank you Dr. Norton for finding Dr Saville. Your practice is amazing. Thank you, Dr Saville for putting me back together. No need to travel across the country to get great care. The best is in Boca.
My Father in law had a sudden onsite of Spinal Stenosis. Literally, within weeks he went from very active to walker bound, no strength and his condition was worsening each day.
I did my research and we found Dr. Saville. We visited him in his office. Dr Saville planned surgery quickly to remove the pressure from his spine.
When my father in law woke up from surgery he had regained his feeling and sensation in his hands, arms, legs and was able to hold items again in his hands. (Unbelievable recovery) 3 -hours post op he was able to walk to the bathroom with little to no assistance.
Dr. Saville is an excellent- world renowned Surgeon! We are blessed to have this caliber of a Surgeon in our midst. He truly has been a life saver!
Dr. Saville is a humble man and truly puts his patients first! His office team is great at assisting you with the pre-op work up in preparation for surgery.
We would highly recommend him and his team to anyone needing this type of surgery!
Again, thank you for giving life back again!
Dr. Saville did an L4-5 minimally invasive fusion of my spine last week and I must tell everyone that he is a great, kind and amazing surgeon. He checked on me several times after the surgery as well as called me when i went home from the hospital.
I was suffering from pain and numbness of my lower back, legs and feet progressively getting worse over the last 4 years and when i met with him a few weeks ago I knew he was the one that could help me.
I underwent surgery 9 days ago and from day one i have been feeling better and better with little pain which is amazing!!! and my numbness, tingling and pain has almost resolved at this point.
I can honestly recommend him highly to anyone without any concerns.
Very happy with the whole staff at Florida Spine Associates & especially Dr. Saville. I was in excruciating pain & could barely walk when I went to see the pain management doctor, who after reviewing my MRI, immediately scheduled me to see Dr. Saville. After meeting with him the very next day, he explained to me what was happening & told me I would need a Microdiscectomy. He was very informative about the surgery, giving me all the facts & possible outcomes. Seeing the condition I was in, he scheduled me for immediate surgery. The surgery was fairly quick & provided me with immediate relief. I am very happy that my PC doctor recommended Florida Spine Specialists & that I was introduced to Dr. Saville.
My husband and I met with Dr. Philip Saville to review the recently taken MRI of my cervical spine.
Dr. Saville was very informative, explaining in detail the advanced degenerative change to my cervical spine with cord signal abnormality.
Dr. Saville recommended an Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion of C4 thru C7. We found Dr. Saville to be very pleasant, personable, knowledgeable, and exuded confidence and professionalism. Dr. Saville’s support staff worked well with him, they were pleasant, and helpful.
We met with Dr. Saville in Pre-Op, and again he went through a quick review of the procedure being performed and answered all of my family’s last minute questions.
The operation was successful, relieving the pain and numbness in my arms.
Dr. Saville met with my waiting family Post Op, giving them a current update of my status.
Dr. Saville was in the hospital in the morning and also in the evening checking on my status which was most reassuring.
I have and will continue to sing the praises of Dr. Saville, and will gladly recommend his orthopedic expertise to anyone and everyone.
I was in excruciating pain when I got to Dr. Saville. I am so glad I decided to have surgery. Not only is he an excellent surgeon, he has a wonderful bedside manner and a terrific staff. My back has not felt this good in 30 years! Thank you Dr. Saville for giving me my life back.

Dr. Seth MacMahon's Testimonials
Great Experience every time!
I've been to this clinic about 6 times now. I have always been met with a friendly staff, very helpful in any question I have. Clean well organized offices. Dr. Seth MacMahon, has from day one been very helpful to get me pain free with my spine ailments. He is very thorough, so very down to earth, doesn't rush, makes sure to go over any changes more than once...So I understand it...Doc's nurse Adam is super friendly, also very down to earth, and gets problems straightened out very quickly. Mostly prescription issues that had no error on their part, they still helped in getting things right, so I can go on feeling my very best.
Dr. Cyrus Ghavam's Testimonials
After an spinal fusion that came apart in less than 24 hours and not being treated for 19 days I ended up with all kinds of problems. I have been to 5 spinal specialists including flying to NY to see the chief of neuro spine at a medical center up there. No one performed the simple physical tests that Dr. Ghavam did. He sat there intently listening to what happened to me and what's going on. I am overwhelmed and overjoyed that I took one last chance to find an excellent and caring physician.
